Default POD K300 versus K700

After my cousin is in for extensive knee surgery I wanted to revisit my knee protection...
I currently use an athlete compression band ( wow helps reduce knee pain ) and have Thor knee guards which have saved my knees in the past few crashes leaving me with no pain/no injuries....

I wondering if the POD brace ( I realise these are actual braces to prevent hyper extension/ACL tears etc ) offer more protection? With a heavy price tag I want good reviews before I lay down the hard earned cash!
I like the design simplicity and feel....

Your thoughts?

I read an article on them and the review they gave was pretty good one, they even point out the differences in the K300 and K700. Here is the article I read Motocross Action Magazine | MXA TEAM TESTED: POD MX K300 KNEE BRACE

Interesting read. I believe the PODS are probably the better brace to go for.... I've now seen the new K8 and they look rad if only they didn't cost 1/4 of my bike
I think the K3 will do just fine....

I wore cheap evs (ok they still cost $50 at the time) knee guards until I got tangled up in a first turn crash. End result was a kneecap in about 4 pieces. The plastic shin piece that was sandwiched between some neoprene cut my knee open just below the kneecap and severed the patellar tendon.

I've since switched to cti braces. Yes, they are more geared toward hyper extension/ligament injuries. They also have a nicer knee cup and offer more side protection. I'm pretty sure they saved me some injury yet another time someone decided the outside of my knee would be a good place to try and pivot/turn off of.

Bottom line....proper knee braces are expensive but I think they're worth it. I tried a pair of the pods on and the fit is pretty similar to the cti braces I currently sport.

I have a friend who has been working for Leatt. I wasn't overly impressed with the pre-release version.

Hmm I think the only concern I have with the braces is the knee cap protection...
My current guards have a very strong knee cap cover. I almost wish the guard was to as bulky on the side and had hyper extension support...
