Default Maxxis Surcross ST

I have to write about these tires because they are great and really do well on a wide varity of terrain types. I originally bought them to go to Utah and Jericho "MUCH SAND" before I moved to Hawaii. Well they were great in the sand but not only that, they also did just as well at OCA in ogden. When we were there it was not race preped so you had some hard pack and soft berms it handled all very good. But what impressed me most was out at the Toolee "SP" track were you have a hard clay base and some fine dirt on top. It did great their as well. Wear is good not great but good. I would recommend these tires for just about everything short of blue groove riding.

I'm glad you're happy with these tires, Ranger. I've got a set on my kdx and have been very happy with them as well. I was surprised at how well they do on such a wide variety of terrain. I usually go from our hardpacked roads, to the sand and rocks down the beach. I've yet to chunk a knob either.

Hmmm, very interesting. I may have to give it a go, since the Tooele track is my home track, and if it did well there, that would be great.

Looks like based off the edges that it would be a pretty good cornering tire as well.

How did it slide? Predictable? too much? Perfect?

Looks like it would be great in a straight line too.

Corners like it is on rails the front end feels very predicable. Of course I'm riding the better bike but it should do well on a Honda too

yea the only thing I didn't like was the sizing..it's just like the Michlins narrow, but it doesn't seem to effect the handling/performance at all.

Great info. I know you ran the M-12 rear, did you run the M-12 front? The reason I ask is that's my favorite tire at this point, and I'd hate to leave it for a tire that I don't think is quite as good.

Really, because my little cousin was rolling his ttr125 on the trailer when his back tire popped! So we took it to a local tire shop and they put on a maxxis tire, and boy you coul just see all over the place, he said it didnt handle as well as his old tire and the tire got worn down pretty fast. But maybe its the model of tire I dont know.
