I haven't tried the other filter oils on the NoToil filter. I have used the NoToil filter oil on a Uni on the xr's and my yz 125 too with as good a result as anything else. they test out really good with a white rag after a ride. The cr500 is using the same filter as a 125. the added air and vibration is pretty intense on the ride that seems to get the most past through it. 26 miles of flat silty river bottom. SAND!! I wish that is all it was, sand is EASY to stop. I use the NoToil on about everything but the 500 now.

The only problem I have with my K&N, is that I ALWAYS over oil it. I just can't stop myself. I go over it once, then let it dry, then I can't stop myself from doing it again Then the bike is so rich afterward, that I kick myself for it, but I just keep doing it.... Anyone know how to get me to step away from the spray can and just leave it alone?

you could always pick up smoking, if you don't already or maybe put a rubber band around your wrist, or you could put a shock collar on, and give the control to your son, that way every time he sees you reach for the can "ZAP" that'll break ya of it but if your son is anything like mine he may take the oppurtunity to even the score, "hey, daddy remember the time you grounded me "ZAPPO"-LOL
do the K&N's work for even 2-smokes?

LOL, I do have a shock collar for my dog, I may have to do that one... though, I'm not sure who I trust enough to give the controls to.. hmmm, maybe that won't work

Yes, they will work on 2 strokes.

I run the K&N. You just don't let it go long before cleaning. In dry, sandy conditions, clean it after every ride. But it is super easy.

We use K&N exclusively on our 450s and 750s. Yeh but that is DT you say? Well, we just came back from a week of testing at the Springfield TT and 1/2 mile. The 1/2 mile is crushed limestone and sand. We had 3 bikes that ran over 100 laps each. Got back to the shop and NOTHING got past the K&Ns!! Besides the sand, Limestone is some of the nastiest and crappiest stuff yopu will ever run in and the K&Ns did a fantastic job.
The initial price is higher, but you get a better product that almost lasts forever, gives better performance and protection, and easier to work with. Besides K&N is one of the biggest supporters of MC racing out there. Tdub
I'm not a huge fan of K&N however; most of the issuess I have seen I'm pretty sure they are from what Tdub says "improper cleaning" I have seen lots of dust in air boots and lots of dirt in float bowls. Don't use high pressure water, don't use an air gun to try and dry it faster, and use their oil and cleaner to maintain it. I think if you run an outerwear you are just defeating the purpose and restricting the amount of air flow so you might as well run a $28 foam filter and save the money.

My dads friend use to use k&n and he said that they absolutely SUCK! He said they get dirty very easily and dont offer much more performance than other filters. He now runs uni, and has this slip over thing on it. But he says the manufacturer reccomends he cleans it less often and offers the same amount of power. I trust him when it comes to air cleaners because he is like a proffesional on the matter. I always thought K&n kicked *** and were great, but never used one for dirt applications. My cousin got one and does everything according to what K&N tells him but he is always cleaning it! For the street there awesome in my opinoin! But they suck in the dirt.
