Default Dr. D CRF250R Exhaust review

Posted: Mon Mar 31, 2008 11:30 am Post subject: Dr. D. CRF250R exhaust review

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently installed the Dr. D. stainless/aluminum single sided exhaust on my 2007 CRF250R. The exhaust went on very easily and everything lined right up.

AN extra long bolt was included for mounting. In addition I received the spark arrestor system and the S/A was easliy removed after taking off the allen bolts on the end cap. No clamp is needed at the mid pipe overlap. The fit is that tight. I called Dr. D to be sure.

I had been advised by Dr. D staff that I could expect 2-3 hp gain accross the power band over the stock dual system. I have not had the bike on a dyno but after ridiing it recently at my home course I'd have to say the power gains are very worth the price of the exhaust. My CRF now pulls noticably stronger throughout the rpm range.

I did adjust the fuel screw slightly but no jetting changes are required. The CRF definitely runs stronger than stock and I have no complaints with mountng process. The price is one of the most affordable on the market. In addition even the stainless w/aluminum can version weighs less than the stock dual system. It's also offered in carbon fiber and titanium versions for those looking to drop more weight but willing to spend more for it.

The only drawback is at this time no heat shield is offered for the head pipe by Dr. D. I was able to get one fabbed up by flat land racing though. It only cost $50 for the brushed aluminum sheild and was at my door in less than a week. SO really that's not much of a drawback in the end.

Customer service is outstanding. Each question I had was easily answered by Dr. D. regarding mid pipe clamp, jetting, HP gains, and heat shield with a simple phone call.

I'd highly recommend this exhaust to anyone looking to gain HP and drop weight on an 07 CRF250R. I'd rate it a 4.75 out of 5 stars.
