Default Review: Sidi Crossfire Boots

Santa was nice to me (as usual) and brought me a pair of Sidi Crossfire boots this year. And before people get their riding shorts in a wad, this is just my opinion on these boots.

Since we were in San Diego, we drove on out to my old stomping grounds, El Cajon. Motoworld has their shop there and I wanted to try them on before deciding on them for sure. Daniel had already read up a bunch on them and decided from other reviews that they would be the best to buy.

My first impression at the store was that they were much lighter than my Tech 8's. They felt a little weird without a bootie, but I kind of expected that. Also, the boots didn't feel stiff at all and were almost comfortable. I can't really say I felt more protected just wearing them around the store. However, I did take a couple of laps around my dad's apartment on Christmas morning and even threw a Nac-Nac while passing through the living room and landed it safely.

I did get to put in a few laps as stated in my other thread. The boots never gave me a problem and really were comfortable from the get-go. I never missed a shift and didn't have any blisters. They offer quite a bit of ankle protection and I absolutely love the buckles. I don't have to wrestle to get them unbuckled, which was common with my Tech 8's. I also like that the soles can be replaced with nothing more than a screwdriver.

All in all, I'm very happy to have them as the soles on my Tech 8's were thrashed. Those boots lasted me for 4 years, I guess we'll see how long these ones last. My very first pair of boots, 17 years ago, were Sidi's and they lasted a LONG time.

Nice review Char! They sound comfy and they looked good from the photo of you and Ima at Perris.

I'm still waiting to wear mine other than in the living room.

Glad you like them! They really seem like a great boot!

Great review. I think the Tech 8's are really over rated. I hate the same things you did about yours. Both the other options in that price range seem like better boots from every standpoint.

Hey girl!! Just curious what size boots you wear and if you knew how far the calf area actually adjust on these. My local shops don't have them in a size small enough for me in stock and I'm not to keen on paying $400+ to order boots and then them not fit! LOL I guess I would have to wear a size 7 as I think that is as small as they go... Actually now that I think about it I believe Cycle Gear has 100% money back guarantee so I could have them order em and if they don't work get my money back. I'd just really like to have a better idea before even forking out the money even if only temporary! LOL

Did you try the SG-10's? Lots of folks here like 'em and I figure they will probably be my next boot. Any idea how much Santa paid for those Sidi's? Let's hope THIS thread doesn't get closed.

You might try calling rockymountainmc.com and explain your situation. They sell bazillions of boots, and might know which ones are larger in the calf area. They also have 100% fit guarantee.

Those are the boots that Dane & DBK wear. DBK can wear just about anything but Dane is pickier than a woman in the shoe department at the 1/2 yearly sale at Nordstrom when it comes to anything on his feet. Not only that, but he has really big calves.

The Sidi's are the ONLY thing he has been able to fit & wear consistently & comfortably. He is really really hard on his boots (both of them are) and they need boots pretty much every 6-8 months. The new ones you can even go on the website & customize your colors. Thank goodness they have a Sidi sponsorship because those things are pretty pricey.

Mike... I did not try the Gaerne's on. My reason being, Santa had done a fair amount of research and would have ordered the Sidi's off the 'net had he known the right size. I probably should have though, as it would have saved Santa a fair amount of cash. I really like the ability to replace the soles with just a screwdriver. BTW, I think they were right around $400, maybe a bit more? They did have some '06 Sidi's there on sale for $250, but none in my size.

Drea, I'm not sure on the calf adjustment. They seem like they'd go fairly far out though. I don't wear knee braces but knee/shin guards and haven't had any fitment issues.

I forgot...I also bought a few sets of the extra long replacement straps for the upper buckles. They work great until they get ripped off by bushes in the desert (but that's why I buy extras).

I went to Grif's Cycle Sports here in town...they didn't have my size to try on so I will try the Stella's back on with riding socks at Cycle Gear tomorrow and if they don't work Cycle Gear can order the Sidi's and have 100% money back guarantee so if they don't work I'm not out anything. I hate to fork over that much money on boots being that I'm an absolute amature rider but hey I need boots!! LOL

True...but coming into riding only in the last couple months and already buying a brand new quad and a brand new bike plus almost another grand on things for the quad as well as whatever I spent on gear it's kind of hurting my pocket book!! LOL I wouldn't change it though! I love riding sooo much!! I just need to win the lotto or find a sugar daddy! ROFL
