So I too "upgraded" from work boots to elements. I have the 2007 model, which have a bit more molded plastic than the pics here, but offer stll, limited protection for more aggresive riders. They broke in pretty easy, just wore them around the house for an hour or so a couple times, and by the time I got them on a bike they were good to go. The straps are good, but the buckles...not so much. They like to unlatch a lot, but if the straps are loosened the boot feels lose. The plastic parts tore rather easy after a few rides. I also hit the peg with my toe during a couple kick starts{'87 KX500} and tore a nice chunck of the sole completely off the boot. So here is my overall:

If your just starting out or not a real serious rider{No track or crazy trails} then these boot should be fine.

If you want to save money and get a decent pair of boots check out the thor quadrants or the oneal clutch or the no fear trophy.

If your into racing or serious trail riding, spend the money on good boots. As stated in another post "don't cheap out on your boots or helmet". Astars, sidis, gaernes, fox, 661 etc...good riding boots are the cheapest insurance policy you can buy to insure you walk into work monday morning after a nice weekend of riding.

I wouldn't buy an entry level boot, because I saw the foxf3's today for $129.99 somewhere online, I can't remember. All that I know is that I have seen alot of good boots (middle and upper level) online for decent prices that match entry level retail boot prices. Look around for deals there are quite a few out there. Just my .02. Hope this helps.
