Default Best boots to buy

Hey just wondering if anyone has used the new scott genius boots. I tossing up between them and tech 10's, or maybe there are a different pair out there that you use and like. Obviously money is no object so only wanna hear about the best products.

A-Stars are over rated. Top three boots are (not in any particular order) Gaerne SG-10, Sidi Crossfire, Scott Genius. Period.

CrfJedi you have made a bold statement, but I have to say I like it! I have heard a couple things about the Scott's that would keep me away for now. I do not like to buy the first production of anything, wait to get the bugs worked out. I like the SG-10, and Sidi myself but I do like the tech 8 over the 10 myself.

I love Gaerne SG10's and the SIDI Crossfires. Tech 8's suck IMHO and I just don't like the Tech 10's.

The Scott's are very interesting but I'm not sure that I could get used to the Moon Boot feel and fat toe box. Plus the quality didn't seem up there from the examples I've seen.

Dang... you guys are hatin' on tech 10's. I love mine. They fit really well and give absolutely amazing protection. I over jumped a supercross double yesterday and and top of that landed on the tips of my toes because I got a bit squirrely. I know for sure that in most any other boot I would have broken both ankles. The Tech 10's I rode away and said "Ouch..."

It wasn't the Tech 10's that pulled you out of the fire. You got lucky. We use to ride and race with a local guy fairly often. He loved his brand new Tech 10's. Last year he shorted a step-down during a race and broke both ankles. Didn't even crash. Rode back to the truck, leaned the bike up against it, and waited for someone to lift him off his bike. Plates and screws. No boot is failsafe when you hit wrong.

You're probably right Jedi. I'm sure there's definitely an element of luck involved with mine. Like I said, I was amazed when I rode away... However, there was probably an element of unluckiness with the other guy too. I know that these boots really do limit the extreme ankle movement... They'll only let it bend so far.

My son swears by his Berik's......and right now the price is right. No break in time. He bought a backup pair for $119 at Cycle Gear on Friday. (Carmichael signature version). The price is just too good to pass up even if you don't need a new pair right now.

The boot dosent mater if it doesnt fit right. If its a size too big then your foot will move inside it,I broke a toe with a bigger boot.Brand doesnt matter as much as how well you can ride with them. Some boots feel stiff I cant hit the brake right, but hey they wont break a bone!!!suckers!!! Get what works for you.

For what it's worth, I saw a pair of the 'Genius" boots that were returned to my local Cycle Gear because the soles had all but desolved after only a few races. For the amount they cost, they had better last awhile. Junk. I wear Fox F3's, but money is an object...

Any input on the THOR quadrant?
I tried on Tech 10s tech 8s
Sidi Crossfires
Fox F3
and the thors seemed to be an actual comfortable boot, I dont know if I could ride in some of those boots because they are too stiff and bulky,
I feel safer with a well fitting boot like the quadrant, and what really blows me away is it was cheaper than all the rest,

I need boots no expense spared and a new helmet but Turns out money doesnt always buy happiness

ANy comments?

I just bought a new pair of the Gaerne Fastbacks. I researched them and there are a few differences then the SG-10. i like them so far. Paid 230 for them. Thor's are also a good boot for a first pair. I had a pair of the T-30's. I also rode in a pair of the Sidi Crossfire and did not like them. Just my 2 cents.

I love my Tech 10s, they fit perfect and I have had a stump try and fold my foot in half and my Tech 10s did their job, and I only paid $350 for my boots brand new.
