Thumbs up YFZ hour meter install (part II)

Hey guys, I just installed a wireless hour meter I bought off of E-bay.
It works by conduction when in close proximity to the spark-plug/sparkplug wire. Any time the motor is running, the meter automatically turns on and starts logging hours.

I feel that an hour meter is a necessity for today's high strung 4-strokes.
This way you can know when it is about time to start thinking about replacing a piston and rings, not to mention other maintenance issues.

It didn't work from the distance the seller claimed (1-4 feet), but I did get it to work by using zip ties to hold it next to the wires (wire bundle) going into the spark plug.

I believe I paid around 23 bucks (including shipping).

Here are a few pics of it after it was installed.

Jeff, could you let me know the name of the seller, as it sounds like they are a bargain. That's if the person is selling more of them. Thanks mate.

I think these wireless type would be the way to go, as they would be easy to setup.

That seems like a worthwhile thing to pick up, as I have no clue how many hours are on my quad.

Like I said, I won it off of E-bay, so you may or may not be able to get one for that price. I believe if you went to buy one outright it is more money??

You can also just do a search on E-bay under "hour meter" and see what comes up. Thats how I found it.

Oh, I forgot to tell you (or take a pic) : , but you can see the LED screen even with all the plastics in place. So you don't have to remove anything to view the hour meter, although to get access to the buttons, you would have to remove some of the plastics.
