| Thinking about a wheel spacer kit (3" rear, 2" front) and I am wondering what everyone thinks about the impact a mod like that will have on bearings, etc? Also thinking about a new CDI (or new Rev-Limiter?) cause I hit my rev-limiter way too easy. BUT I am a little apprehensive about adding RPM to an already high-revving motor. I don't want to blow it up or otherwise shorten it's life by squeezing out a couple more RPM...anyone wanna suggest a particular brand or throw in some feedback on this issue as well. Thanks! | As far as wheel spacers, I think if you're not doing any huge jumping they are probably fine. I have heard that on the front they cause extra bump steer though. As far as adding RPM's, I would be a little apprehensive also, however the motorcycle revs another 1,000 RPM or so higher than the quad already, so who knows? |

| Had 3" spacers on the front of the wifes Banshee for a year or two. Hit a mud hole realy hard (15mph) to try to skim across it but the rut grabbed the wheel and broke the tie-rod. I rod 10 miles back to the truck with my foot holding the wheel straight. Every mud hole would grabb the wheel and cause the quad to spin out. Started to snow after it rained on us and it took us 5 hours for our 1st ride of the day. She got to ride the Raptor back to the truck. It now has real a-arms and works shocks. |

| if your hitting the rev limiter- SHIFT. it's there for a reason, so you don't over-rev your engine. |

| well..... you said you didn't want to blow it up but still you asked what brand to buy. now which is it? next you'll be crying about how you blew your engine up by over reving it. yamaha designed it so you'd get the most power out of it with out hurting the engine. if you put a higher rev limiter on it then you'll be coming closer to ruining it. above the rev limiter there isn't any power to be gained. |

| Re: Spacers & Rev Limiter I cancelled my order for the rev-box for that very reason. I was soliciting advice on the matter... Quote:

| I doubt and extra 1,000 rpm's would hurt your engine. The factory is usually pretty conservative with their rev limits. Check with a good dealer mechanic. They should be able to tell you. Anything more thant 1,000 rpm's and you may have to look at beefing up the valve springs. Sunset Atv sells them. They are a dealership with some well informed sales people answering the phone. The aftermarket CDIs usually have a more aggressive power curve and a 1,000 bump in rpms. Sunset stands behind what they sell. I purchased one for my Preditor and couldn't be happier. It was still making power when the factory one kicked in. I shift when I want to know rather than when it forces me to. Good luck! |
