flasher smokey yamaha blaster

a while ago i drilled 1 inch holes with vents to cover the holes in my Blasters air filter cover to get more air in for more speed, but come to think about it, its alot faster but also alot more smokey, can that be from haveing to much air going into the engine. How can i fix it ot make it less smokey, add more gas????????

oh ok kool i guess when it warms up it would be less smokey, but does more air going into the engine make it more smokey?

well yeah your changing air mixture/flow might make it smoke a lil bit, did you just drill holes in top of the airbox cover? or drill them and pop in screen vents, and if your 2 stroke smokes a lil bit thats not always a bad thing atleast you know its getting oil. if its really bad just tape up the holes and see what happens. but i run my bike at 40:1

1. Its a two stroke. Its going to smoke. No matter what you do, it will always smoke. Its burning oil. Burning oil smokes.
2. By drilling holes in the airbox cover, you are adding more air to the a/f ratio. This means you are leaning the engine out. Only slightly, but you are leaning it out. A heavily smoking engine is running rich. By leaning it out, you should be getting LESS smoke.
3. Its getting warmer out now, it could be simply coincidence and the carb needs work. Clean it, jet it, and set the float.
4. Clean your air filter.
5. How does your plug look?
6. Unless you dont ride in thick mud, sand, or dust, you can just remove that airbox cover. I ride in a lot of mud and removed it. It just means i have to clean the filter more often.
