Default Piston installation Question

I'm currently in the process of installing a cp high compression piston on my YFZ, but I noticed that the circlips that came with it are a little different then stock. Should I use those provided by cp or the stock ones? The cp ones don't have the two holes in them to remove them.

If the pin boss has a relief area (like a 2 stroke piston) that allows you dig them out after installation then use them. If not, I wouldn't use them. You have to be able to get them out, period.

Never reuse circle clips its a no no to all engine builders if you cant get the new ones to work then i would find a set somewhere but never reuse circle clips. Good luck hope you enjoy the mod.

Usually you can use something akin to an icepick whether there are holes or turned in ends to grab. Never had a problem getting them out of anything. If you decide you cant live without the stock type, just make sure they are of the same gauge/thickness etc. Piston suppliers send clips that work and are designed for the grooves on their respective pistons. Take your pick on turning the open ends up or down before putting the cylinder on.
