Default Jetting carts for a banshee

i am woundering what i need for jets in my 02 banshee. i have a wisco pistin but it is stock, and after market exhaust and reed spacers. i move from one end of my state to the other and the altitoude is about 3300 feet. back home i had a 230 main jet in that altitoude was 1500 feet. also was woundering if i need to change needle and poilt jets. i woiuld really like to know so i can go riding ( the is a state park that has atv trails and hill climbs about 5 miles from were i live now ) also i have hear you are should change jets in colder weather, do you really need to do that? the temp. goes from about 15 to 50 in the winter and 50 to 90 some times 100 in the summer.

First off!! Welcome to
So glad to see another Banshee rider

Now about your jets. There are much more qualified carb guys on here than me. I just seem to tinker till I get it going good. I still haven't got jetting down

Got any pics, WE LOVE

When you move greatly in temps or elevation...yes...you will prolly need to re jet.

Go ahead and ride your shee where youre at and see how it runs. You prolly wont be too happy.

One I will answer....do you need a different pilot?

Does it start easily either just kicking or kicking with the choke on and idle well without the choke after a little bit? If so...then no. If not...then yes

I could point you to a jetting guide but its tailored for 4 stroke carbs and might confuse you a bit.

Welcome to ATM!

Usually a large drop or rise in temp will require re-jetting, as will a large change in altitude.

2-strokes seem to be a lot more picky on jetting than do 4-strokes for some reason. I will give you an example...

I ride mainly at the Oregon dunes (altitude zero, or sea level).
When we would go to St. Anthony Idaho (5,000 ft), I usually had to drop the main jet by about three sizes, would drop the needle one notch, and would go down one size on the pilot jet.

A safe way to re-jet is to go too large on the main jets (till it blubbers), then back off one size at a time till it revvs out clean. This will not be the "perfect" jetting, but you will not be running lean, and you will not be blubbering from being way too rich.

The warmer the temp, the more you may need to lean it out. The colder the temps, the richer you need to jet the bike. Do not worry too much about the colder or warmer temps unless it is extreme enough that you feel a difference in the way the bike runs.

Pilot = low RPMS
Needle = midrange
Main jet = 3/4 to full throttle

Hope this helps.
