For most good riders, that's not very important. They don't come with speedometers so most of it is just guessing anyway. The more important aspects are, cornering, acceleration, trottle response etc... I don't have one. I have ridden a few and my best guess would be 65-70? Remember, riding an ATV is MUCH different from driving a 3000 lb car on flat pavement with a seat belt and a "roll cage" around you. Drive you car at 65 mph and stick your head out the window. You'll feel every bump, the vibration of the motor, the suspension, the smell of exhaust, dirt, dust...it'll all be there, all the time. Riding a bike shares many similarities to riding a rollercoster. You might not get the G-forces when turning a corner, but you don't exactly have rails to hold you to the ground. No line either....

I'm pretty sure that the Raptors have a top speed a bit over 80 mph. To know for sure the woody brothers need to chime in here when they get a chance. I'm sure they have an almost exact number with stock gearing and tires, as well as rev limiter.

Yep..they'll probably give you an answer depending on the air temp, humidty, wind direction to a hundredths of a mile. 82.37 headed ENE with a wind aided tail wind. The Woody brothers...I live for the day that I can ride with the Woody brothers. Is it Woodruff?...em..Woodson?....Woodfersale?

A raptor does around 74 stock, just enough to get killed if you ever need that kind of speed.

Yes mid 70's is the top speed, though most people don't ride them at top gear wound out. I have wound out the YFZ, and 250R along with some other quads on the sand flats in Florence. I get real nervous going that fast though. One little bump, or mishap at that speed, and you are looking at a trip to the hospital in no time flat! As stated, if you don't want to go that fast, don't go full throttle in 5th gear (I believe they only have 5 gears). BTW, there are some atv forums where your questions about ATVs would be answered quicker. I will move this thread there for your convenience.

A raptor is a very controlable quad, depending on your size and weight, I really don't see any issues with it. |

TRX250EX's are slower. WAY SLOWER. you should also be able to adjust the throttle stop on the thumb piece its self.

The Raptor isnt built for top end speed. It's a woods bike. It has a ton of low end power, and lacks on the top end. I also have 22" rear tires on mine for ground clearance when I trail ride. Have you ever riden a quad? Their are a ton of quad guys on ATM, that ride different bikes, we all have our own opinion. Guys let us know what you ride and what you think, so he can decide on a quad

I have a 2002 Raptor. 2+2 Dura Blue axle Maxxis Razor front and rear tires Weisco 11:1 compression piston Hot Cams stage 1 race cam Works triple rate front shocks Nerfs (Cant remember brand) Twin K&N air filters Yoshimura Comp pipe and silencer These mods have been a real improvement on my Raptor. The axle and the new tires are a must for better handleing Also have a 2003 Blaster FMF SST pipe and silencer K&N filter Raptor rear axle (yes it fits, about 1.5 inches wider) Removed oil pump This is my wifes bike. It is a great bike to start out on but you can out grow it fast. Perfect for the wife or kids!! Hope

I just picked up a 2003 660 last Saturday, and Suunday my buddy had his Rhino toped out (they are govered at about 40), and I blew past him in 3rd gear at what he estimated at 60+. This one isn't stock, but still had a ton of headroom. My best guess is consistent with the other estimates in the 80 range. Chas
