Default Bogging Down

Hi
I am new to this site. But i have a couple questions. My raptor is having some issues. When I run through water my quad will bog down a lot. But if i hold in the clutch and REV it up then it will eventually get to the RPMs that I need. I sound like a popping sound sorta. Like Ill give it the throttle but it will just pop until I hold in the Clutch then sometimes it will get the RPM that I need out of it. I can not figure out what it might be. It will do the same thing If i set the parking brake and give it gas. But when i remove the parking brake it will go away and have no hesitation to get to max throttle. It will also do it If I am going up a hill or something like that I need power.

Going through water and geting bogging sounds like your sucking in water to me. Make sure your carb and airfilter tubes are sealed good.

Welcome to the site~!
How deep was the water you were going through, and how fast did you go through it??

What aftermarket parts have you put on your Raptor? Did you re-jet it afterward??

The water is about 1ft or so. After I go through it, it will run crapping for about 2 minutes then be fine again. I have went through it fast and slow. I would usually start out going fast through it and by the time I got to the end of the water. It was bogging. Basically it sounds like its firing it just not going anywhere. Sorry about the way im describing it. Its hard to describe. The only aftermarket parts that I have put on it is a stage 2 jet kit (dynojet). I have already changed the spark plug. But before I put the jet kit on it did this one other time and it was after I washed the quad with the waterhose. I had it standing straight up and sprayed the bottom of the quad

You might want to check if you have any exposed wiring anywhere. Might also see if you have a tight seal on your cases. Perhaps the stator is getting wet?? Not sure??

I believe there is a switch on the parking brake so that when the parking brake is engaged it cuts out that CDI so you don't take off when the parking brake is on. There is also a switch under the shifter that controls the revs of the bike when you have it in reverse. Check that switch under the swifter and insure it is plugged in all the way. This might sound silly but go back to the water crossing and try riding the quad backwards through the puddle and see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't then I would say there is a short somewhere on the circuit. Good luck and keep us posted.

Exactly my thoughts. You have a rev limiter built in to your parking brake. If it's an '02 or newer you also have a limiter in reverse. My guess is that circuit is getting wet, I'd follow it down to where it plugs in (I believe on the case) and make sure that it is sealed.

also visually check that the parking brake releases at the rotor. dirt or rust will make the cable stick and it actually never releases even tho the handlebar release is done. push it with your hand. i thought my raptor took a dump----- and that was all it was
