i was wrong about how much resitance it has. it really has 6000ohms and from hot to ground it has around 2. and i am trying to check my stator but cant seem to get the magnet/flywheel thing off.

Hey,
I am going through the same no spark situation on my KDX200. I had troubles getting the flywheel off, but I did get it off. 1st off, you need a puller. They are not expensive. Dennis Kirk (mail order catalog) has them, or a dealer will sell them. Ebay even has some. I made mine with some steel, a welder, and a metal chop saw. Anyway, buying one is easier. But don't try to take it off without a puller!!!! Some look like this:

Some look like this:

You need to use penetrating oil on it too. I used some from the local auto parts called "PB Blaster" it worked excellent.

Then to get it off:
1. Remove the bolt in the center holding it on
2. Use lots of penetrating oil
3. Attach the flywheel puller
4. Use a wrench or wratchet to turn the big bolt in the center of the puller
5. If it won't come loose, Tap, don't pound, on the end of the big bolt with a hammer, don't hit or pry on the flywheel itself. Then hit it again with the penetrating oil.
6. Put your wrench back on and tap on that. This is what worked for me. Actually I hit the wrench more than tapped it, and it turned that big bolt in very little increments. After about 25 hits with the hammer, it came off.

When I got mine apart, the magnets had come loose from the flywheel and I had to clean it all up and reattach them with JB weld. They were in there originally with some type of epoxy and through age, corrosion, and vibration, they came loose. If this happens to you, mark the position they go in the flywheel as they need to be glued back in exactly the same way. I used my engraver to mark everything so it wouldn't get washed off/scraped off when I cleaned up the flywheel with the wire wheel.

If you feel like this is too much, just take it to the dealer. If you screw up the flywheel, it can be expensive. BTW, Rickystator.com has replacement Stator Coils and for some models he even has replacement flywheels. For CDI's (Igniter) and Ignition coil, I checked the dealer (for my KDX) and the CDI was $195 and the coil was $62. I fould them used on ebay much cheaper. I also checked with salvage yards, some were not very much cheaper than the dealer price for NEW parts. Let me give you some links on electrical stuff for bikes/atvs:

An explanation of how a CDI system works, it is for a Vespa, but the principle for a bike is the same:

yeah i just bought a puller for it. i normall have been able to get them off with out one but this one didnt want to come off and i didnt want to for it to much because my bearings arnt in great shape. i have heard alot obout pb blaster but i have just used liquid wrench and it has never really help to loosen it up that much just to let it come on and slide off.
i have the harmonic balance puller but it takes a nut and and drive bolt which i just got from repairmanuals.com. they got them pretty cheap. cheaper than ebay at least.
thanks

Try the PB Blaster! You won't be disappointed. I could not get my flywheel off before I tried PB Blaster, even WITH a puller.

PB Blaster worked great to clean up the stator too.

Let us know how your progress goes!

There are no aftermarket ignitions that i know of.
you do not need to remove the flywheel to test any of the igniton
just unplug the 4 stator wires and the ignition coil wires.

here is an online blaster manual.
check out the few pages on the ignition system. it tells you how to test and what the allowed specs are
