Default Banshee's last year

I was just wondering if there are any other people that like banshee's enough to the point of were they could sit there and stare at them on yamaha's website? Well tonight i decided to go check if the banshee was still around for 2006 as i dream of buying one new some day from the dealer and sure enough its there one more year. However as i continue flipping through links i see yamaha's anouncement that this is the banshee's last year. There is no way ill have the money to buy a new banshee now. I guess thats it for the big 2 strokes in quads. I love my lt250r and will never get rid of it now unless in a year or two a dealer still has a left over banshee. However i did hear rumors of bombardier and a big 400 or larger twin or single cylinder 2 stroke that was supose to be competative with the banshee, well now with no banshee, will bombardiers idea go down the drain? Or will they sweep up the market with it?

If you want to compete with a banshee get a YFZ . Seriously though, Banshee's are the ones that give me the best races on my YFZ. The new LT450R is gonna be really sweet tooo. Don't under estimate the new 450 four strokes. I haven't heard anything about a 2-stroke bombardier before, but the DS650 can be modified to put out some serious HP.

only other quad i would own besides a banshee would be a 250r, a YFZ cant keep up with the big boys when you start to work the banshee. Only time i have ever been beaten in a drag was when my stock tires had 20% thread and the right tire was flat, i almost crashed into the 450 when i took of, it shot to the right When i got my klaws, i couldnt be touched by the piped/cam 450's. mine has a bottom end dune port, about 65HP, did that for $800(including pistons, billet head, carbs, port job/bore job) thats what i call a value meal. piped 450's are very competative with a piped banshee, though. im not saying they are bad bikes, i like them alot, they just need alot of cash to make them fast. there are so may banshee's where i ride, you would be amazed, only a couple 450's. these are mostly trails, i find my banshee the ideal bike for where i ride, trails, hillclimbs, and straight aways!!

For hillshoots and drags, Banshee's are very hard to beat when you start putting money into them.

Back on the thread topic, I would be very surprised to see a new 2 stroke released into the market. I'm pretty sure they're going away.

They might, I have no idea. My point is that I doubt we'll see any NEW 2 strokes enter the market.

I don't think Gas Gas makes a 2-stroke either, only a 4-stroke.

I have owned a couple of banshees before, and you all are right, there isn't anything quite like them out there. The are a blast to ride in open areas for sure.

However, lets be honest here....the machine is dated, waaaay dated, I think the last update was switching to A arms over J arms??? I mean look at the airbox design that Yamaha has let go for how long sucking dirt into the engine? The machine is a aftermarket parts companys dream come true.

I am not taking anything away from it, with the right mods they are the best machines out there IMO for dunes, but in all reality....it's time.

NO! the last of my fav quads is dying i lost interest in them when they stopped making 250R's. One of the street bikes my friend owns is an '87 TZR 250 same motor as RZ 350. So when you guys talk about dated the banshee motor is the same as the RZ that was out in 84-85 in the US the motors look almost identicale expect the RZ/TZR has electronic operated power valve's much like the honda CR 250 as of late. RZ 500's are not the same they are was a 4 cylinder so know it more as a V4.

Just a dream. Or that is how mine will sit when it's done.

My wife hates my YFZ because of how hot it makes her leg. I wear boots, so I don't notice so much, but yes it is hot. It will glow if you just let it idle for a while.

What elevation are you at?? If you're above about 3,000 feet, then you probably don't need to rejet for just taking out the baffle. If you remove the air box lid though with it (I highly recommend), then you may want to go up to a 162 on the main jet. When you're ready for a pipe, let me know.

To pull the baffle out, yes, just the one bolt, then pull it out, you may have to use some vice grips or something, but it should come out.

As far as pipes I have DMC, Pro Circuit and Dr. D pipes available for cost + 10% through the end of the month (ATM online store). If interested, just PM me some time.
