I have never ridden a LT500, but I would guess that they are probably mean desert machines.

Thumbs up Re: Banshee vs. LT500

I would definately say the TRX250R! Oh, wait, wrong thread! LOL!

My next question is what type of riding?

LT500 has tons of torque, but doesn't rev too high.
Banshee revvs to the moon, but doesn't have any bottom end without severe modifications!

I think the Banshee is more reliable in stock form, but the 500's torque is awesome for duning or whatever!

The Quadzilla is a great machine for the dunes, especially if you don't mind your butt being numb while riding (tons of vibration). I would take the Banshee they're not quite so much work. More reliable too.

OK, the LT5s were made in the late 80's right?...there are gonna need some maintainence but lets compared it this way, and 88 Quadzilla vs. an 88 Banshee, does this change anything?

Not really, except the Banshee had J arms. The motor has been virtually unchanged since it's inception in '87. My opinion would remain unchanged.

Don't get me wrong, I think the LT's are good machines. I know a lot of guys out there who swear by them. There is still a pretty good demand for the Quadzillas, so obviously there is something about them that keeps people wanting them.

I have ridden both machines, although I have spent ALOT more time aboard a shee then a LT.

The LT has tons of torque, and it flat hauls butt. Better in the woods and on the track for most people because of the high torque and ridable powerband.

The Banshee gets up and moves, but you have to wring the living piss out of it to make it get out of it's own way. It is peaky, jerky and feels one heck of alot faster then it really is. The banshee is the king of wide open spaces, no doubt.

Over the two, I would take the Banshee just because of reliability issues. If the 500 didn't vibrate so bad that your butt goes numb and was a bit more reliable, my decision could well be different. I wish that Suzuki would make that machine again and improve upon it, but I know that will never happen.

My .02.

Yeah, a lot of us guys would like to live the past in the present. That would be kind of cool.

Yes, it is an evil, evil cycle!

Easy to get drawn into!

Guess it stems from all of us guys wanting to get the last word in!
