| Apples and oranges. A yfz engine from the dealer is almost at its hp limit. An aftermarket exhaust, filter, and some fine tuning on the jetting may get you another 2-4 hp. A banshee engine from the dealer is in a severe state of restriction. A set of pipes, air filters, and some jetting will net you about 12-15 hp. Advantage banshee. Try to get those kind of gains from any of the new 4 strokes and you will be out some serious coin. Not to mention the life expectency of your top end is about the same as a scheduled piston change on a 125 2stroke. |

I guess if you believe everything the mags tell you then yes, my info would be very bad. Unfortunately, for you and the mags, I've helped out on and off at local performance shop for the past 7-8 years. The dyno dont lie. I don't doubt that you've wasted some banshees on your quad. The yammy 450 is probly the best sport quad ever made. But as far as hp goes, the banshee engine is far superior when it comes to potential hp numbers. |

That was my attepmt at sarcasm. I can't log on to a dirtbike/atv website lately without reading about all the top end problems with the new 4strokes. My point being 4strokes are no longer the "gas and go" machines they used to be. |

| No they aren't your daddy's 4 stroke...that's for sure. lol. But in my experiance they outlast the pingers 3 to 1 on rebuilds...however when you do rebuild the 4strokes it can get expensive, so it evens out really. |

If there is one thing I like the most about allthingsmoto is that there isn't any bashing between members like most of the other sites out there. I just don't think your information is reality. BTW what type of quad do you ride? |

| I agree that the Banshee is tough to beat if you have deep pockets, especially for hill shooting and it definitely has it's place in the ATV world. However your information is a bit flawed when talking about gains. There is a man on this site (FFRacing11x) that has a YZ450F that puts out 60 plus hp and is still reliable and the YFZ has similar potential. I know there are Banshee's out there that put out more than that though, so I think I get your point, but dollar for dollar, I think the YFZ holds it's own quite well, as I too have beat many Banshee's in hill climbs with just my pipe, K&N and jetting. |

| I don't need any opinions. I have seen it with my own eyes. I'll stick with my original statement. Quote:
I'm not trying to bash your yfz's, like I said in an earlier post, it's probly the best sport quad ever made. But, for pure hp numbers the banshee is king. The original question did not specify stock or built. Do a search on bansheeHQ and you will find dozens of dyno runs from 65-75 hp., and a handful more in the 85+hp range. Most of the high hp banshee's have been stroked, piped, etc, etc. But even a full blown out, normally aspirated yfz engine would not come even close to those numbers. Now if someone were to make a turbo that fit the 4stroker, then its a new ball game |

| Turbo is just crazy. Of course so is noss. I guess if all you care about is speed in a straight line, then that's the way to go. As far as the argument at hand. I have no intermal mods done to my YFZ, yet I have upped the hp #'s around 10 hp. Bolt on wise, I don't think there's much more you can do than has been done to mine, but I definitely gained more than 4 hp. My pipe alone gave me at least that gain. |
