Default Another clutch question for a YFZ

Now that i have figured out my clutch problems, my other friend is having trouble with his, his 06 450 continues to roll when the clutch is pulled in. When the quads in 1st, and he pulls the clutch in, and it still rolls? and it will stall the first time it is started and clicked into first with the clutch pulled, unless you give it alot of throttle. Now is this a simple cable adjustment or? Thanks again for your guys help-

Well, took it out on Saturday and figured out the clutch only begins to grab too much when the engine gets really warmed up. So put it in first, and with the clutch pulled, it continued to roll, so we reached down and pushed the clutch arm that the cable connects to on the motor as far as it would go by hand and it still continued to move, not sure what to do? is there another adjustment revealed when the clutch cover is removed?

check the crank oil if that is low or worn out that could cause the plates to stick also, the clutch basket could be worn with small grooves not allowing the plates to release freely

Ok heres an update..sorry for dealy..ok so we decided to put in a new tusk complete clutch kit and a new clutch cable. When we replaced the plates we also removed the basket and filed away the grooves from the plates rubbing on the "ears". Then with all the new parts and it back together we tried it...NO LUCK..it still "jumps" when you put it in first from neutral and after it warms up its just about imposible to find neutral with it running...that sounds like plates sticking but they're brand new!? Anyone got a clue? Thanks for your guys help, Mike

Yes, replaced both the fibers and steel plates as well as the springs...the notches were not horrible as it didnt take too much to file them smooth..won't have pics till we pull it apart again but like to get a better idea on what to look for before I take it apart again..Thanks

yes that does sound like sticking plates but mine gets worse the warmer the quad gets. It will start out fine but when it gets all warmed up it only gets worse to the point where pulling in the clutch is almost no different than letting off the throttle and leaving the clutch lever out..it continues to move even with the clutch lever pulled in??

Mine grabs a little when it's cold and in 1st gear with the clutch pulled. After the initial starting it is just fine all day.
When I first bought it, the clutch would stay engaged very slightly with the handle pulled (only if I revved it up a bit) but a quick cable adjustment took care of that.

I haven't delved too deeply into the clutches on these but I would think there must be a problem with the pressure plate, or some major cable adjustment issues.

I'm just curious what kind of oil you use? May or may not have anything to do with it?

Yea i wish mine would just warm up and go away..but its the complete opposite..works perfect when I start out but after it really warms up it goes bad..I use amsoil 10w-40 and change it every 4-5 hrs..

What about the push rod that runs through the motor? could that be worn out or something to result in it getting stuck as the heat expands it?
