Starting a rebuild on the top end. Hope this will help solve my issue with coolant and oil exiting out my cover exhaust tube. Replacing piston as well. Coolant in my tranny oil will hopefully be negated by replacing the pump impeller seal. First time undertaking these tasks so any advice would be helpfull.

Thanks for the feedback. Replaced the impeller oil seal tonight. The old seal was a pain to dig out. Nice shiny Wiseco piston attached as well. Cylinder hone and bolting on the head are tomarrows main tasks. Hope for a test ride as well.

Everything back in order and she fired after a few kicks. Running 20:1 for break in so she's smoky. Hope to be back on the Tomahawk Trails soon so I can feel how my small mods work out (Wiseco Piston and re-jetted the carb @ 320 main, 40 pilot). Any suggestions on the length of time for break-in?

Cool, sounds like a good time. Keep us posted on how she turns out. Been along time since I rode a 92 RM250. If memory serve's it was a torque motor. Nice indeed.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Getting stoked to run her at normal fuel ratio. Runs and sounds good. I'm hoping the carb re-jet will bring the low and midrange pull to the next level. She definitely has the torque on the high side but since I ride woods trails mostly I believe I'd benefit more from having that torque show up quicker on the low end. I'll keep posting her progression.

Back injury has kept me from doing to much riding, however, I have her back at 50:1 and I'm fairly pleased with the rebuild and re-jetting. She gets out of corners a lot smoother and the power is not so abrupt. Next job is a clutch re-build. Haven't had much luck finding a clutch basket for under $150, any suggestions?
