Default hard to open up power valves..HELP!!

I got the 1998 rm 125, i noticed the top end was pretty crappy the first few days of riding it, then finally i really hammered it today and the power valves opened and it absolutely flew and screamed on the top end. Thats when i realized that the exhaust power valve hadnt been opening, and i REALLY have to wind it up to get them to open, so im thinking they arent adjusted right or something. Anyone tell me how to adjust them properly? It looks to have the same set-up as my old rm had with the 'knob' looking thing with the 2 screws holding it down, so it can be turned one way or the other.
thanks!

I have the same problem with my 97 rm 125, there is no snap in the powerband, i don't think mine are opening either. I will try to get on it tomorrow to see if mine will open like yours did. The adjustment you are talking about opens the power valve. Look at my post and a guy told me how to adjust it. maybe this wil be os some help to you.

You may want to consider pulling the power valve out and cleaning them up. I know they can get pretty gummed up. Were you planning on doing a topend soon? If so that would be a perfect opportunity. As far as adjusting them, I'm sure some of the RM guys will be piping in soon. Good Luck.

i just had the top redone less than 4 hours riding time. My mistake of not doing it then. I just got the bike and never ran it before the rebuild, so I had no idea that it was a problem. Thanks for all the great input.
