Default clutch plate install..

im currently in the process of tearing down the motor on my 03 125 rm... i have a service manual which is helping quite a bit, however i was just wondering if anyone knows if the clutch plates sit in the basket in a specific order or not... what i really mean is do the grooves on the plates have to match up or do they sit in the basket in different positions...

if anyone can answer this it would be greatly appreciated...thnx

the grooves on the ears dont need lined up, make sure the clutch basket is ok, look at the crown, the part that contacts the ears on the friction and steels, need to be smooth, they have a habbit of wearing grooves on then, you can smooth them out if they are not to bad, but if you dont mind the cost factor and extra work replace the basket with after market, remember steel cant touch steel, so inner hub is metal, then friction, then steel, then friction, steel,...... then friction, then presure plate, and soak the friction discs in oil, before you install them, or they will fail.

Default Thanx for the comeback

I took a look at the basket and everything looks ok...the engine has very low hours on but i had to replace the piston so i thought i would check everything else out,,, i had a feeling that the grooves didnt have to line up, however it was good to get another opinion....Greatly appreciated Thanx for the info it really helped...
