I recently took a 96 Rm125 in on trade and was assured all it needed was a coil. The boy said it had a fresh top end job. He said while he was riding one day it died. He said Suzuki looked at it and it needed a coil. Of course I put a coil on and still no spark. After that I put a new stator on and now it has a strong spark but still refuses to start. I even sprayed a little starter fluid in it, yes I know better but it didn''t start anyway. I don''t get it. I have fuel, I have fire, what don''t I have? Timing? I haven''t used a comp. tester, but comp. feels good.

Might sounds dumb, but make sure the plug wire is all the way down. ( figured id start with a simple idea). i have left it up and gotten pissed cause it wont start... then i check the plug wire. good luck.

START BY PULLING THE PLUG OUT AND PUT YOUR FINGER OVER THE PLUG HOLE. WHEN YOU GO TO KICK START THE PRESSURE SHOULD BLOW YOUR FINGER OFF THE HOLE. IF NOT YOU HAVE A COMPRESSION PROBLEM. NEXT IF YOU HAVE A CHOKE PULL THE CHOKE AND TRY TO START WITHOUT GIVING IT ANY FUEL. HOPE THIS CAN HELP. GOOD LUCK

Have you tried push starting it?

Yeah, give bump starting it a go. Try second gear, first may be a little low. Other that I'm at a loss. You say there is spark, fuel... Oooo, is it the RIGHT spark plug? Just because you are getting spark, it may be a very weak one.

haha, keeping with the simple ideas, is the plug wet? lot of buildup? if it is clean it or better yet get a new plug.

What ended up being the problem? I'm having the same issue with my 98 rm125.

Try checking your carb it might have some dirt in it.... that is if you've tryed everything else... as far as timing goes with 2 strokes its not something you need to worry about due to the fact that the fuel goes in the top end from the pressure caused by the downward motion of the piston... good luck.. hope you figure it out if you haven't already
