88 rm 250 - advice please

Hi there,

Am new to this forum, just picked up a new bike pretty cheap and am looking for some advice on how to get it going again. When i got it the engine was caked in oil. the previous owner says it was a runner but has been sitting for about two years. After a closer inspection it seems there is no spark, flywheel has play and there is oil around stator and inside casing. i no i am looking at a bottom end rebuild as it has probaly blown a crank seal and bearing.

does anyone know what other probs i might be in for once i open case. There was no oil either when i went to drain tranny.

i got an 88rm250 non runner with no spark , I put a stator in it and cleaned all the connections up and it came to life . To bad it was a turd .

thats a shame ive heard this was one of the best years for the rm 250
