Default 1993 rm125 crank seal orientation

Hi Guys,

I just put a replated cylinder and new piston on my dadís 1993 rm125. First start up revealed a large amount of smoke and bogging, leading me to believe the bike is sucking transmission oil into the combustion chamber. I am just trying to confirm the orientation of the right-side crank seal. After researching, I found that the manual says spring side out, but it is a hot topic of debate that the side that the spring is visible goes in. Anyone have experience with this? I have mine oriented the way the manual says to but I have a new seal to try.

Thanks for any help!

Spring side in is what makes sense in my head... but don't count that as advice

I agree. I originally put it in that way when I split the cases, but I was having the same issues and so I put a new seal in spring out after researching. Might just flip a coin and throw the new one in based on that haha

Ok, that is the way that I currently have the seal. I think Iíll throw the new one in spring side out, and if the fresh seal doesnít work I guess Iíll look into the jetting, etc.

Thanks!
