Default 1986 RM80

i want to add some aftermarket parts to get my RM ready for a MX type event with older bikes only. the suspension and my top speed is my main concern: with the original rear sprocket on it it accelerates like its supposed to but the top end is( my guess ) a little over 50 MPH. i mention the suspension because there are going to be some jumps involved and with the it set up the way it is it bottoms out and leaves these huge rubber marks on the side of my muffler and i don't want to replace it. any help out there?

something interseting: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If it bottoms, you need stiffer springs, most likely in both ends. Also, if your tire hits the muffler, something is bent because it shouldn't hit the muffler at all.

As for aftermarket parts for a 1986 model, good luck finding any as almost anything aftermarket was discontinued long ago for a 19 year-old bike. Your only hope is finding them on Ebay.

i think the the tire hits because the tire looks extra wide. that and the muffler isn't stock either.

tire rating:4.10"
aprox. muffler width:2-3"
