Default '03 RM-125 - Checking the crankshaft?

After posting the question if I could rebuild the forks myself, I saw a video that was posted here from Motosport how to's and that answered all my questions.
so, here is another one...
I just got this RM 125, and I am going to install a new top end kit. How do I check the crankshaft for excessive wear when I have the jug off.
Thanks for reading my post. Howie

when you take the piston off the rod, wiggle the rode side to side, there should only be just a bit of movement side to side.
