![]() how much horsepower also? |

![]() Top speed will vary depending on gearing. It isn't as fast as you want it to be though. On a 2001 yz 250 with stock gearing I was clocked 5th pinned at 51mph. smaller back sproket will get you faster, but you'll loose bottom end power. |

![]() 51? That doesnt sound right at all. I used GPS on my 125 with stock gearing and got 73 mph. |

![]() I think a 250 would run way past 50! |

![]() My 2001 RM250 clocked out at 75mph with the stock front sprocket and a 48 rear (49 is stock). Dirt bike magazine ran a HP chart on the 2001 RM250 and it ran at 43.8hp at the rear wheel. The 2003 KX should top out around 75 and Dirt bike magazine has a hp reading of 42.5hp at the rear wheel |

![]() Stock rear on my YZ was a 52 tooth. With a 49 it would hit around 70mph |

![]() I dont get it. I thought 250s went over 100mph. I got my 83 cr 125 up to 80mph. It has 6 gears though. |

![]() I heard all modern "out of the box" 250's run in the mid-70mph range. |

![]() the 450 will hit mid 80's, so 75-85 would be my guess. and jeff, if your yz would only do 50 something was seriously wrong with it. |

![]() My 02 CR250 was clocked at 92 by the highway patrol out at glamis next to the road. But I had less teeth on my sprocket that weekend. |

![]() I had a buddy of mine ride my Virago along side of me one day. He clocked me at about 72MPH before I slowed down. I use 13/49 sprockets. I try not to do that too much because it is just plain bad for the motor. |

![]() I know the post was originally asking about a standard KX250 but just out of interest, Dirt Bike Rider magazine in England did a test years ago with a CR500 fitted with road tires. They fiddled with the gearing for speed rather than acceleration and they got, if my memory serves me correctly, 115mph. |

![]() thats sounds possible to me. i've heard they do like 95 with the stock gearing and tires. |
