Default Update on my 250

Yesterday I got the sub frame off, and the air box out, got the seat cover, brackets, and foam off the seat, and all the guards ready for making pretty. Today it took me about 3 hours to clean the air box boot and airbox. I totally dissasembled it and cleaned it. I also spray painted it, and now it looks like turd, so I'll have to figure that out. I tried to get the linkage rods off, but the bolts are too tight, what should I do to loosen them up? I tried wd40 and heating them. They are starting to strip too. I was going to look for a adapter for my impact driver so it could use sockets. Would that work?

I need to get the shock off, and they are in the way of the bottom bolt. I put liquid wrench on last night and have been using an impact driver on them, they won't budge. Should I put a flame on the threads to heat it up? It is a little cold outside. Or should I go get a big torque wrench for more leverage, I need one anyways.

i dont know what to tell you. put the impact on the other side, the bolt could be frozen inside the linkage and maybe the nut will move. hope this helps

I've been trying that, I think I just need to keep working it. I go back and forth between sides, to try and loosen both ends up, but tis not been working, so I'm taking a break.

Well, it hasnt been taken off for 11 years, so thats part of it, I dont see any loctite on the threads, so in a little bit I'm just gonna go back and keep trying. I'm just surprised the impact driver didnt get it right off, it has gotten everything else off I needed. Its also hard to get the wrench in there because the chain is on and its kinda tight.

id take the wheel off. dont let your rear brake lever get pushed all. its not fun to push the piston back in. it must have not be greased or something becuase my 15 year old 89 didn't give me as much trouble as yours.

Ugh, I tried heating it. It gave me a nasty burn it was so hot, so I decided to let it cool a bit and then try. Still wont budge. I'm lost here. I ordered a free brochure from Kroil that has 100 tips for removing stuck, frozen and rusted bolts. So when that gets here I'll try everything. I don't understand how something can be so tight.

Did you ever try an Air Impact Wrench? I think you must hit the bolts. first with a hammer on a socket, then with the Air Impact Wrench. must work!?

did you heat the bolt or around the bolt? Do you have the bike far enough off the ground that the tire is not touching? there is some major pressure on those things is the top of your shock disconnected if not that will relieve some pressure.

I don't have an air impact wrench, I heated around the threads and head and everywhere. The tire is off the ground, the top bolt for the shock is taken out. It leaked rain in our garage and there is a puddle all around my bike, and I have no room to work on it, so I cant do anything today, but when the puddle is gone I will be back out there trying to get it off again. I have like a 3 by 5 foot work area, it is super cramped, that doesnt help at all. This is crazy that it is so tight! Thanks for all the suggestions though, maybe I'll try to get an air impact wrench.

Does anyone know if the Ceet complete seat would fit my bike, it says 99-02, I have a clymers and it ranges from 92-00 I believe, so technically wouldnt the parts have stayed the same through those years somewhat? The places where my mounting brackets go on the plastic are all busted up.
