Moto Shopping Spree!!

I just bought a bunch of stuff for my KX 100 and thought I would share! I have oil that gets all over the side of my bike, me and everywhere else, so I decided I wanted to change a few things. In the process... welll...haha! Here goes!

FMF Powercore 2 Shorty Silencer and wash plug =o)
PJ1 Foam Filter Cleaner Kit
Permatex (red)
Motul 800 Premix
Maxima Chain Wax
Silkolene Pro 2 synthetic
K&N Sealing Grease
spark plugs of course

I know everyone has their opinion and it's all a learning experience! All comments are welcome an appreciated!

Your gonna love the Motul 800, great stuff! Your gonna find allllll sorts of opinions, but I ran it 50:1 on my wifes KX and had zero problems.
Sounds like your on the right track.

Ha, nothing better then a little tlc for your baby.

I might also suggest doing some jetting adjustments (actually I think you have a thread on that already, if so just ignore me).

Thanks guys! I will print off the jetting info on here and that should do it. I hope!!

Is there a way to upload my bike pic without having an url address?? My website is under construction until I have the time to fix it.

Thanks!

Sparky,
That is a really nice job on the KX. For an EE major you do alright(I get to poke fun as a senior engineer and program manager) Keep posting the updates and some race/ride reports.

Sounds great! One of my internships I want to get is in Environmental Engineering, testing runoff water to improve our lovely water supply out here in Cali! There's radon and all sorts of fun stuff in it. Needless to say I drink bottled water!!

I just got my Motul 800 today. Should I use the recommended 50:1? My tank has 32:1 now and I'm fearful of the 50:1 ratio. I'm going riding this wkend to the desert! YEAH!!

Sparky,
If you run the 50:1 I think you will be fine with the Motul 800. Modern oils and water cooled bikes can handle the lower ratio mixes well. Check in with a few other members replies on the oil ratio but be warned: oil ratio, oil type preference and oil change up threads can get very contentious with people feeling their choices are the only right choice out there. We have some very knowledgeable members here and they can help out, just take the arguments with a grain of salt.

We do expect a full ride report of your desert ride too.

What was your MOS in the Corps? Just curious as an Old timer is all.

Semper Fi,
Bill

Yes, I have witnessed the oil discussions....haha!! When I finish with all the gas I have I'll make the switch. We might rent quads, so I might not take the KX. I won't have time to put the new exhaust on yet or do the jetting. I want to fix my leaky problem before putting on the new exhaust! It's so clean and sparkly!

My MOS was Bulk Fuel. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton on the ground side and then went to MAG 39 at the air station for a little bit. I loved the air side! I'd still be in if that was my job!! I love the helos, especially the Cobra. Sometimes i go to military.com and watch videos that they take in Iraq. There are some really awesome videos!!

I will definitely give a full report on all my crashes.. er..um.. I mean the fabulous 2 stroke journey through the deep sand!

Semper Fi,

Just a thought on your mixture... if your bike is currently jetted for 32:1, you might want to stick with that? Or either that, adjust your jetting accordingly?

Or either that, I could be completely wrong.

I was very hesitant on running Tracys 125 on 50:1 but we never lost a ring, bearing or piston on that bike. I run 50:1 on my 250 with no problems either....I guess I better stick to the subject though huh.

It just sounds so bizarre.....lol! But I guess the bottle wouldn't say it if it was that bad. The directions say 50:1.... I do have to adjust my jetting as well, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm nervous about messing with the carb!!

Nappy Nappers!! Long time no see!! I PM'd ya!! We are going to OW this weekend! YEAH!!

Char,
I totally agree and what you say makes sense to me!! That's why I am questioning the 50:1. I just am nervous about messing up the carb. I printed off everything I could find on here especially the famous Faded KB post. But, still...!!

Thanks everyone!!

Kev.. I wasn't saying not to run 50:1.... And stay on topic, would ya dangit???

Sparky... if you're mechanically inclined at all, the carb is no big deal. It's really fairly simple. Shoot, I'm volunteering KKXR to help you with it.

HAHA!! I'm sure I will be fine. I want to learn everything I can about my bike and take care of my baby better! I guess that includes the carb too...haha! I might try to do it on Friday.

I ordered stuff from Chaparral and Motosport 5 minutes part and got Chaparral's stuff on Monday. I haven't received Motosport's yet, tracking says Wednesday. A full 2 days later!!
