I bought a 03 KX 125, love the bike. But I need to learn more about maintaing one. Specifically, I want to add a flywheel weight, as my friend (03KX125) has one and theres definately a difference. Also, want to change sprockets to tame the top end down some, she's a little punchy now, all or nothing. Any advice/tips and tricks for replacing the clutches? AND lastly, anyone ever have a problem with the porosity of the cylinder head? My bike has developed a "seeping" of coolant when hot. I check the coolant religously because of this, but it seeps so little theres no drop. Its on the left side, about centered top to bottom of the head. Anyway to fix, maybe grind and weld, or just replace? Thanks, Charlie.

hello,Charlie...well,you came to the right place to get advice and opinions!!! weighting the flywheel will take out some of that initial quick punch out of the beast...i allways recommend adding teeth to the rear to avoid the chain lifting off the front sprocket,also-the more the chain has to bend-the more power is lost...we don`t know what you`re searching for as far as riding,so we can`t recommend changing higher or lower ratios-a high ratio(low numerically)can increase top speed or sacrifice acceleration...a low ratio(high numerically) can increase accelleration by allowing the engine to rev quickly....i recommend kevlar clutch plates-they take more abuse and last longer...the porosity could "POSSIBLY?" be helped by certain media shot peening and special coatings-i don`t know much about these processes and that still might not help-the problem might not be porosity, but then,it could be-i`m sure someone else here knows more about that-it seems to me the gasket could be bad...whatever you do-don`t use eggseal-haha..oh yeah, nice to see new people here-tell your friends about this site-it ROCKS!!!

My riding is a mix of track messing around, learning how to jump, and trail. Somewhat nice learning trails on a 2 stroker, makes a nice "area" under the learning curve. So, the gearing, I would like to reduce the need to wind the little crapper out. Stock gearing, its like i have to always be up in the stratosphere rpm range. Would love to gear it out more like a 4 stroke. The porisity issue, well, its definately not a gasket. It is seeping out of the side of the jug. Like in the middle, with no place near for a gasket. I will see about getting a kevlar clutch pack. Sounds good to me. Any tricks to replacing them? I wrench on cars all the time, even started tuning newer F bodies, like my own, so I am inclined to do this. Thanks. Charlie.
