Default KX85 Transmission

Hi,

I just finished replacing the crankshaft on my son's 2002 KX85. everything seemed to go OK when putting it back together. The gears turned OK, Shift forks seemed to move fine, the case went back in OK and everything. When I tried to test it with the engine on the bike, it shifted to neutral and it got stuck there and doesn't shift to any gears. I appreciate any information on what typically goes wrong or if you have any suggestions.

Check the shifting mechanicals behind the clutch as that is the normal place for these issues. Also check the shift lever shaft to make sure it did not push off the spring and arm under the clutch.

I removed the clutch basket and checked the mechanism. everything looks good. I think it shifts from 2nd gear to 5th and back but when in neutral then it stay there until I pup it back into 2nd with a screw driver by turning the shift star ( I think that is 2nd gear).

Try testing it while spinning the input shaft. I had a Blaster a couple days ago that wouldn't shift well until I put some spin on it, then it shifted fine.

Thanks for your reply gusco. yeah, I tried that too, but when in neutral, it still won't come out of it. It's like the shift lever's pawl stop reaching the pins to spin the shift drum's holder.
