Question KX80 HEAD GASKET PROBLEM!

Hi! I have my 1987 KX80 and I have changed the head gasket because the other was done. I have changed it but before I placed on the head gasket, I put on some gasket seal on the head and cylinder, I knew that I wasnt suposed to do that a few days after this was done. After that, I refered myself to my owners manuel for tightening torque specifications of the head bolts. I didnt have any torque wrench so I did it almost as it said the torque was but with a normal wrench. After a few days of riding, it kept on staling and running kind of funny. Then later on, it staled and had no compression. I took the engine off, took off the cylinder head, looked at the head gasket, and plenty of peices of the materiel on top of the head gasket was removed from the gasket but the other side of the head gasket materiel was all still there. What went wrong??? Also, when I ordered a new gasket set for it, I compared the old head gasket with the new one and I saw that the ring on the old head gasket that goes around the bore was covering more on the bottom of the gasket as it was on the top were all the peices went off. The top wasnt even covered by the ring really, only a bit. Was it the gasket seal that made the material soggy and tear appart, the tightening torque, or the ring around the bore on the head gasket??

Somebody help me please!

Thanks for your time!!

Wow. Tough to read, dude.

I am going to suggest cleaning everything up, using the correct parts and using the correct tools. If you want reliable performance, use the correct parts for the job.

It is likely the sealer had a negative impact on your head gasket but despite reading your dissertation several times, I don't have a clear picture of the events. If the surfaces are clean and flat, no sealer is needed. This is true for any gasket.

Best of luck to ya.
