KX 500 history

I am looking at buying a 1990's KX 500. Does anyone know of a website that shows year to year changes made to this bike? I know quite a bit about the CR 500, but very little of the Big KX. Thanks

As far as I have read, the KX500 has remained basically unchanged since around 1990. The graphics have changed, but from what I've read and heard, that's about it. I have an '04 model, and from older KX's I've seen on Ebay, they look just like my bike, other than the graphics.
But if you get one, and have any questions, I might be able to help you out since I have one.

As has already been said, the KX is mostly unchanged since 90, about all i can remember changing is the fork diameter (same as each model year 250 and 125s) and the flywheel is slightly different since about 92.

The plastics are the same since about 88 and the piston since about 86 (ish), the cases the same since about 88 or 89.

You could try on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] which I use quite a lot for info but there is quite a lot of info on ATM to be honest

The KX 500 is one of the most widely adapted engine around, being used in quads, roadracers,hillclimbers, supermotos,desert racers and some people even use them for motocrossers

Mines a 90 by the way

The KX250 changed big time from 98-99. Did the 125 or any other models change also?

I don't know about the 125 although often when the 250 change the 125s mirror the changes but as the 500 has different plastics it hasn't changed much since 1990, it's just carried on winning desert races anyway.
