Default Kawasaki PowerValve Question.....

I have a friend that just did the top-end on his son's 2001 KX100 and he is doing some griping about the powervalve assembly. Can the p/v be taken apart without pulling the cylinder? Also, how do you "time" the linkage inside the cases? He is an industrial mechanic (and a pretty good woods rider too!) and has rebuilt many, many 2 and 4 stroke engines in the past, but no modern Kaws. This 100 is back together, but his nephew has one also and he thinks the p/v on that bike may be stuck. Any tips or shortcuts????

Try This. Not sure if it applies to the KX100, but it's worth a shot.

I don't know about the 100 but you have to pull the cylinder on my 125 to get to the valves. My gears have markers on them to align. But I do know that you can do it wrong and cause the valve to be stuck wide open. I did it on mine, but caught it before I finished putting it back together.
