u useually only touch the timin if its not running right or if u have and kno how to use a timing light see the hole motor has to be in time with each other for the most hp gain u only mess with it if u think u kno how to time it better with the light and it dosent really make that much of a diff plus if u adv. it to far u risk a high chance of burning a hole in the piston if it works fine dont touch it if it dont and u have no idea how to time it and u suspect thats whats wrong send it to a local mechanic and get him to do im sure he will mostlikely be more then happy to do it for ya.

u can time any lbike electrical by using a timin light every motor has marks on the flywheel u use to time the stator and flywheel in sync for best pefformance u have to use a timing light to do this ive done it to my friends yz my tecate 4 and my friend did it to his kx250 and kx125 it draws the most power out of the bike.

Mechanical explanation not "to find most power" explanation?

it changes when the sparkplug fires im means u can adjust the plug to fire right after tdc , before it which is bad,on tdc which burns holes in pistons,or a little bit further past tdc its all in the timiing if u time it right u burn all the gas in cylender more efficeintly which in turn creates more hoarsepower crisper throttle response and sometimes better mleage.

You retard your timing to after TDC? Wow and you believe that makes the most power on a two stroke bike? So how many degrees do you retard it to ATDC? So on an 80 what degree would you advise have your transfer and exhaust ports with ATDC timing?

To my original question how do use your timing light, your procedure on a single cylinder two stroke bike?

Well when you get home and look in your book I would be real interested in what your "Book" has to say about using a timing gun.
