looky here Help with timing!!!

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to time a 1997 KX250? The 3 screws holding the stator plate came loose and it was flopping around and started running bad. I need to know how to adjust it and tighten it back down in the right place. Thanks

Do you have the timing spec?

If not, rotate the crank around until the piston is top dead center (TDC). There should be lines in the stator plate and one on the flywheel. Typically for Japanese two strokes the timing is identified as a distance before top dead center (BTDC) and a dial indicator can be used to determine exact timing but in this case, timing it TDC would get it running. So - run the piston TDC and look for a set of marks to align the stator to the flywheel. If you have a dial indicator, stab it into the spark plug hole and time it at maybe .8MM or 1MM BTDC.

I have been looking online to find a downloadable manual or just the timing specs (would love a download manual...can't find one). Do you know what they are?

Thanks
