Pull the dust seal down and use a business card or film negative to clean out between the oil seal and the fork tube- sometimes dirt gets jammed in there and makes the seals leak, but it's easy to fix.

Its easy but fairly time consuming. Get yourself a service manual, a fork seal driver, and a oil level gauge and you should be set. Be careful when putting you new seals on because there are some sharp metal eadges you have to slide the seals past. You can cut the seals while trying to get them past the sharp edge and they won't seal. A trick is to put some oil on a piece of plastic warp and put it over the end of the fork before sliding the seal on. I used to have lots of problems with my KX going through fork seals. Dennis kirk seals some that are guaranteed not to leak and if they do you can get a new pair for free.

If they just started leaking and it is running out cowboy's trick should work for you. You can also use a feeler gauge to do it as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the card trick and if that don't work i'll try to fix it myself.

I just replaced the fork seals on my 1995 Husky, it wasn't that hard. I figured I could always take the forks in if I couldn't do it. I made a seal driver out of a PVC pipe coupling that was about the same size as the bottom part of the fork. Here is a link that helped me a lot..... [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] You can skip a lot of the steps that remove the valves as you are just seperating the forks and changing the seals. Hope this helps and good luck, Replay
