Went riding last night just for a quicky and guess what happened, got my plug wet in a swamp about 2.5 ft deep, girlfriend fallowed and did the same thing, 2 bikes no run, i got hers going so i sent her back to get my liitle bag of tricks, about 20 min went by...i tried to start mine again and SNAP goes the kickstart shalf....OMG was pissed....i almost cried, felt sick to my stomach...like i just hurt my best friend!!! Anyhow i ordered a new shalf today, i just hope it's not too hard to change, looks not too bad...i don't have to crack the block i don't think...( nock on wood) Anyways what a freakin trip so i thought i would share that with ya all!!! And remember, if ya don't wipe out atleast once a day, your not riding hard enough!!!!

that sounds BAD..... but what if you almost wipe out 3 or 4 times and decide to take a brake... does that count?

Hey Tazz, At the WMA Cup in Texas this I saw this happen to 3 people in a 2 day period, all of them were riding late model KX's. I'm wondering if there's a flaw in the manufacturing. So how challenging was it to get the bike home? Hope everything goes well with the repair. Post some pics. -Kevin-

HMmm...good question about the flaw, i'm gonna send an email to Kawasaki and ask them, and i will take some pics today, start a before and after picture thing. The getting home wasn't too bad, the trail was mostly sand and flat so i thought i couldn't bump it, but at the end of part of the trail was a gravel road with a nice long hill so i pushed it all the way up.....it started just as i got to the bottem....talk about a close one...so i got lucky getting it home!!! And MXMomma.....3 or 5 times is perfect....but yeah you better take a break....i know i would for sure!!..ROFL

You should be able to get to it by just pulling off the side cover. That's how it is for Hondas.

Thats right CRFJedi, just the side cover, it's a small stubby shaft that just pops out, strip the goodies off it anf put on new shaft and away we go, i'm all done except i need to goto town and get a new E-clip for the kips linkage, fell in the grass WOOOO HOOOOOOO back in action!!!!
