Default Back Together!!!

Well, all right!!!!

This winter was a great winter for the ole' KDX:

New top end and and about 85% of the powervalve assy. has been replaced, new shock bearing & bushing, new cables, switch to all black plastic is complete, black gripper seat cover and fork boots done, wide pegs, new final drive with multiple sprocket combinations to play with for diff. terrain, new oil seals in case, silencer cleaned, pulled apart and greased every bearing in steering, suspension, and wheels, cleaned everything else real good. Plus I got myself 3 new carb needles to play with

I had already just done Boyesen reeds, FMF bars, grips, real barkbusters (as opposed to the plastic handguards in the pic), skidplate, and a new rear wheel/tire and some engine and carb stuff at the end of last season as well. Suspension had recently been worked so it needed nothing aside from grease.

Now of course just after break in the kickstarter starts acting up and not catching like one out of four times :

Aside from that which I will get around to fixing, I think we are ready to go. Pics to come really soon before I go get it too dirty. But this is what it looked like before anything stated above:

Just for comparison later

Glad to be back together, again! Now if the weather would just cooperate and dry my favorite riding areas out a little I would be set.

Talking Sweet scoot!

Wharfrat,
You sure did the job right on your KDX. I am eager to see the after pictures. Please keep us posted on how the "new" scoot does this season.

Yup yup. Black plastic. Black seat, bars, barkbusters, and fork boots too. That tank and the frame are the only green left. It looks good, just waiting for the photoshoot with a friends digicam. Pics up shortly.

By the way, that is a wallaby (sp?) in the back of that pic

Just kidding, but kind of looks like it, huh?

Thanks very much TTR125! She holds her own for sure.

Amazing how with what I have spent and done in the past year I probably could have had a new bike almost by now, but hey the journey was a fun one. That is what it is all about, especially in the winter when you have a couple of months down time...can't ride and can't Jeep so you have to build them both for the next season.

Pics coming soon, I promise. Photoshoot is set up with a bud for this Sat. That is how he is repaying me for helping him cut the fenders off his 2001 Grand Cherokee :

I will have some good pics up by Monday or so for sure.

Don't worry others will see it... for some reason this last week was really slow??? I think it was spring break for most and they didn't take their computers with them.

The bike looks great. The only bad thing is that it is making me want to black out my bike.

Thanks so much guys. Glad to hear you like the bike!

I know we don't have any KDX riders currently on the forum, but for any KDX riders with an 89-94 model that may stumble across this post some time in the future, here is all the info for the archives:

Plastic is made by UFO. Bolts right on but no one seems to know it exists. You can get it from "Factory Direct".

The seat cover is made by Ceet and is for a 89 (maybe 88) -01 KX 500. It is identical to the KDX cover.

Fork boots are the larger size universal boots.

The black barkbusters are from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] This place specializes in KDX mods.

HTH some people in the future!

Thanks bud! Yeah it has been a lot of work and a lot of $$$.

I do all wrenching on it myself.

That is exactly how I found ATM! I didn't know it was you, but someone posted over in the Off Topic forum. I rarely frequent there but just happened to see the link by dumb luck! and considering how unhappy I have always been with DRN (from day one) I am really glad you told us about this site!

Thanks again!

Ken
