Default Ultimate Honda CR250

The ultimate Honda CR250 (the bike Honda Should have produced), is
being built by the folks at Service Honda. I had kicked around the
idea of this combination for some time but lacked the skills and the
parts resource to make it happen. The motor is the awesome 2001 HPP
valve (arguably the best ever) combined with a 2009 CRF250F.

The price of admission is steep, but worth every penny if you want to
clean up in the 250 class at an AMA amateur event. This bike is
competitive with the 450s, the 250Fs don't stand a chance. Thanks for
keeping the two strokes alive AJ.

I'm definitely getting one.

I have a 2001 cr and love the bike. What are the differences between the old 01 cr and the new 09 crf frames? Did Service Honda do any mods to the motor?

Awesome!

It's a shame Honda and a couple other manufacturers stopped selling the 250 2t's.

Too many to list. I believe the biggest obstacle is the case width difference
where the swingarm pivot bolt passes through the engine cases. There is
quite a bit of fabrication to make this combination work.

What you get though, is an ultra slim, ultra light frame with the same geometry
as the 1993 CR250 and a motor that Eric Gorr said was the best two stroke
motocross engine any manufacturer has ever offered to the public.

Service Honda offers a virtual smorgasboard of options. Basically the sky
(and your wallet) are the limit. I believe, except for a Pro Circuit or FMF
pipe, the motor comes stock.

Over.

$10,599, the same as the 500 AF. I found out the 250 engine cost the same
as the 500 engine. Both bikes use the same CRF250 frame so it makes since
the cost would be similar.

If I can justify the expense and get it past the wife, I'd like to get one of each.

Service has already used up all the complete 500 motors available from Honda.
They are now scratch building (under license), 500 motors to keep that model
available.

I know you can't really wring out a 500 on most local tracks anymore, but
for all of us that have raced these "arm stretchers", it's an adrenaline rush
I'd like to experience again.

That's pretty hard core John, it was a warm one out there today.
I guess as long as you smoked some 4s, it was worth every minute.
