Default Spark plus carbon ring reading

CR125 or any other 2 stroke I want to read correctly. So after a plug chop with a new plug, I cut the threads off and look at carbon ring that was formed. Some say the ring needs to be where the porcelain meets the wrench end and needs to be 1 MM thick. If the ring is thinner than 1MM it is lean. Others say it needs to be in the middle because if the ring is near the electrode tip, the hotter and richer end, it's too rich. And toward the wrench end is leaner. I just want to know the correct way

Dont know how to link, but look for "reading spark plug after jetting" started by rs back in 12/07/2004. Found it under similar threads at page bottom of this thread.
