Default Results of the lekdown test are in!

I have a 02 cr 250 that would never quite run right. I installed a JD jet kit and it made it worse, surgeing, high idle, oil spooge. I played around with the jetting and could never get the bike to run perfect. So i recently built a leakdown tester, thanks Faded for the instructions, and found that i had a magor leak at the reed cage. I fixed the leak and now the engine will hold 6 psi for 10 min easily. I plan to put a new piston and ring set on. My question is...... now that i've fixed the air leak, should i put it back together and try to get my jetting right..... or should i go ahead and do the top end first and then jett it? My worst fear is that i do a new top end then i seize it up because my jetting is screwed up! Anyone have any input on this? Thx

I would go ahead and complete the top end work. If you don't have baseline
jetting for your area, use the stock jetting specs in your owners manual.
Those specs are safe and will get you in the ball park. Just remember to
complete a break-in routine to allow your new rings a chance to seat
before you "ring it out".

Yes i have the baseline jetting specs. So maybe i will go ahead with the top end work and after the break-in dial it in a little better if needed. Thx
