probs running my cr85

Default probs running my cr85

HI just went out gt my 1st bike on saturday ,cr85, and i'm not quite sure what is the right mix. i been putting in roughly 27:1 and its takes ages to start my bike and once i do get it going it will run 4 bout 3 mins then just groan and cut out, i'll then clean the spark plug and i'll just bout manege to start it. what am i doing wrong!! cheers, ben

Ok, what year bike is it? what octane# gas r u running? it should be atleast 91, it will be easier to run a consistant ratio gas oil and the same octane # gas everytime I would run a 30 or 32/1 and stick with it. Maybe also try using the powerband (higher engine RPM) more that could clean up a fouled plug r u riding quite slow all the time? trails ect. although it could be a badly set float hight or a different jet could be needed for your elevation ect. search the knowlege base. hope this helps.

i tryed what you said put the right mix in just put a new sparkplug in, took it out tonight and it started easy. i rid it preety hard hitting the powerband everytime anyway i stopped it for about 5mins went back to it and i couldn't get it to start. i tryed running with it and flicking it in gear and it fired up groaned then cut out and it still won't start by the kick start whats going on?? cheers ben.

Ok, just stick with that ratio gas, what dos the plug look like? compare it to these.....
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] do u know anything about jetting? u may need to set your float level there is a few threads by a member named "faded" check out his float thread in the knowlege base on this site. U may want to clean out your intake, clean air filter/carb, check the reeds for any cracks or chips ect. U will get it going just keep trying.
