The amount of squish that you will gain out of a gasket it minimal. You don't have anything to worry about. I shaved and rechambered my head on my 125 0.010 and gaind quite a bit of compression. Reason for re chambering the head with the shave is to keep the squish the same. Heres my link to my head shave. Sorry got a little off topic.

I asked this question about optimum squish because i have a head already milled and wanted to add a thin base gasket but didnt want to have trouble. My squish right now is between .039 & .040 with the milled head but if i add a thin base gasket i believe it will be .008 closer so id end up with a squish between .031 & .032 so i still dont know what is the best clearance to have ? I see you have .040 is that the magical number?

I have 0.035 of squish. you will be fine with 0.031-0.032. Just run good fuel.
