Is it a good spark plug? Usually if its the cdi it will have a real weak spark. Could it be bad gas?

Well obviously the next thing to look into would be the coil. Also, snatch a plug out of your mower or a Mercedes (make sure it's cool tho') and insure that it's not your plug(s) .

there is a resistance test for them, sorry to say i dont have the specs on them. while you are waiting for someone to come up with those, make sure that your grounding points are clean and shiny on all your electrics, especially the coil. Disconnect your kill switch from the ignition itself, if there is one.

If you have a clymers manual there is a page that describes the resistance test and the specs, im not sure if that is just for the stator or not though. You need a multimeter, one that can measure in ohms.

Hey man, sorry my manual only goes up to 88's. You might be able to find a manual online or something.

this is what i would do, you replaced the stator right? ok, now follow all the wires, take a test light, check each connection that goes into each componant. try to verify that juice is going IN to the comonant that is next in line. if juice is going IN next check to see if it is coming out. repeat this process until you reach the coil. if there is juice going to the coil, then you know all is well from the stator up to the coil. if you confirm juice all the way TO the coil, and the kill switch is working properly, then it would probably be safe to say the coil is bad. before you start all of that, double check all of your wire connections and make sure they are all tight and making good contact. I had a 3 wheeler once that only started when it felt like it, I would pull and pull on it, and it wouldn't start. come back the next day or a coouple of days later, pull it once or twice and it would fire right up. turned out that the ground wire on the stator needed to be re-soldered. good luck, I hope all this rambling on helps.

you can make a test light by taking a turn signal bulb or any bulb like that, get a piece of speaker wire, strip one end long enough to wrap all the way around the bottom "sleave part" of the bulb. this is the ground. take another piece of wire to plug in to what you want to check, touch it to the bottom of the bulb, kick it over and if there is juice going through, the bulb will obviously light up. hope I didn't confuse you. good luck

take the spark plug boot off of the wire itself, clip about 1/4 in. off the end of the wire. take something with a good point on it and evenly spread the wires, not very far, just enough to where the tip of the screw in the boot will go into it, screw the boot back on. I'm not saying this is your problem but then you know it is making good contact there. I have had spark problems before and that was the culprit. I ALWAYS check that when I get a new toy. one less thing to worry about.good luck

Does rust affect anything? When i open the left side cover where the flywheel is, the outer face of the flywheel is very rusty on mine. What does this hurt?

i dont think this would be a problem it just tells me there is a leak in the seal mine wasnt rusty and everything looked fine the only thing i seen on mine was when i took the flywheel off there was dirt that was settled around the stator coils like the whole compatment was full of dirty water and all the water evaporated away and left the dirt
