i live in kentucky, i purchased the bike new so any jetting would have been set by the manufacturer. does this help? am i going to have to disassemble the carburetor or is there an external adjustment i can make?

there is an external adjustment, but i wouldnt worry about it. i have never ridden a two stroke that would idle, except a Banshee it should idle for about a second then die, that is right about perfect.

i *think* there is an idle speed adjusting screw, and there is the Air screw. i'm not familiar with 250s, or Hondas, and defenitely not brand-spankin-new ones i am positive that someone on this site has the info you are looking for.

and btw, WELCOME TO ATM!

The newer bikes should idle abit before dying. My cr250 and 300 would both idle for a couple minutes before i took off again or shut them down.

How does the bike run?If the jetting is on maybe the idle is to low.If your not familar with bikes i would seek out somebody who is.Or be very descriptive when posting your problems on ATM.That way you'll get all the help ya need.

Welcome!!

the bike runs great. i havent had any problems running it. it just dies whenever i stop if i am not blipping the throttle. ????? there are two gold screws on the carburetor, looks like the only two that can be adjusted. one is a philips setting at an angle with a nut securing it and the other is a flathead down on the air side of the carburetor. are these the two screws i should adjust?

The phillips screw is your idle adjustment screw. Back off the nut and turn in the screw until the bike idles.

The flat head screw is you air screw. It should be set somewhere around 1.5 turns out from lightly bottoming. The air screw affects throttle response up to about 1/4 throttle.

Don't make any adjustments until you have warmed the bike up completely.

Your manual should have a very good reference guide to these settings as well.

Wow i have never ridden a 2 stroke that DIDN'T idle! If it didn't idle I would seek out the problem and fix it. I have a banshee that starts on the first kick and idles perfect until i shut it down, same with my 02 cr 250. Sounds like somthing is a little off.Did you check your float level?
