Please someone help me, i have a problem with my cr250, i start it up (about 3 kicks) and it runs for lyk 5 seconds nd then dies, all the engine components (crank piston rings seals gaskets) have been replaced and the bike is not even fully run in yet.we took it to the shop and they cleaned the carb and checked the powervalve and the reed valve. it then started for them and we got it home nd i got 20 mins run time out of it before i packed it up for da night, the next day i got it out and it started and then died in 5 seconds, i took the plug out and cleaned it THEN directly put a few drops of fuel in the cylinder (come on thats askin for it to start) it started and then died in 5 seconds this bike is really pissing me off now can anyone help me out

Check the big three.... Fuel, Air, and Spark. If it isn't running then it obviously has to do with one of those. Have you checked any of your electronics?

That would be the place I started. If you have gone through all of the fuel delivery then your next step should be to look at spark. Things like the plugs, coil, connections, stator etc. are all working properly. Last edited by Squigs; 06-10-2007 at 06:37 AM.

Did you even try to put a new plug in it?

If it started at all, you have spark. Perhaps just a weak spark? Try a new plug to start... thats cheap.

yeah once a plug goes it goes. you can clean but thats just askin for it to burn out quick. i never even bother to try to reuse plugs.

I would check the carb, it sounds as if you have dirt in it and it is only getting a tiny bit of flow. Enough to start and run for a short while, but not enough to keep up.

My bike did pretty much the exact same thing. I replaced the plug (found out it wasn't even the right type) and it runs great now. You should really just make sure you have the correct plug in and then replace it with a new one instead of cleaning it.
