Default Lost my tansmission oil, HELP

Hi guys, Well went out on my 99 cr250 for a little test ride today after a top end rebuild , was goin good, noticed a funny noise ,stopped and had a look and i lost my drain plug and oil. oh dear. pushed the back back home and had a look . do you guys think the transmission will be ok or? i think it was only a short period of time but is that long enogh to do some serious damage? i was thinking about getting a new plug, filling up with oil and trying it out again?
cheers for any help.

I would refill it and try it out. You should know fairly quickly if there is any serious damage after you try it out.

I lost the plug on my old YFZ450 and ran a few laps without noticing, put a new plug and oil in it and ran it with no probs

yeah, on the 2-stroke, I'd just re-fill and give it a shot. If it works, great. And chances are good it will be just fine.

right guys i got a helicoil in the stripped thread and got a new plug in no problem, started the bike up and its idling realy high. surging and was spewin a lot of oil from the exhaust, i thought it might be an air leak at the carb boot but checked and could not find anything, would this be a crankcase seal?
cheers,
Gav
