if it is stock it is likely a 13. we like a 14 and 54. lowers the gear ratio a little and gets the drag off the swingarm, makes the suspension a little happier too. a flywheel weight is really a nice mod for trails.

I don't see a skid plate in your list of mods. I'd suggest one for woods work to protect the engine cases.

I can't help on the flywheel weight as my 2002 has a different crank in it so my opinion of the 10oz Steahly in my 2002 won't help you too much. But it did make it more woods-friendly so a weight of some sort would probably be a good call.

Hey ossagp1, I was just wodnering where you usually ride?

I usually do ditch bangin from Wasilla into Houston, sutton and jims creek now and then but i was seeing if there are many other good places to ride in our area

if the slide on your carburetor is about 7/16's thick and oval shaped then it is a PJ, the idle on those sets with the enrichenor (some call that the choke). It is problematic and the idle changes a lot from warm to hot. It also causes lots of hitches with lowspeed running. some people don't even think of it as a problem until they ride one with a pwk. check yours for the needle number, a 1368 wakes up the midrange. it works well on the pwk too, so buying it now wont hurt.

I like sutton, jim creek is fun but too overcrowded on weekends. eureka, healy, a few places on the kenai are my favorites. seems like there is lots of atv trail out in your area.

we are using a stealhy flywheel on my son's 2000 cr 250 and he likes it. a plastic glideplate is usually adequate for a steel framer. I use them on my rigs. he has aluminum on his 2000 tho. again try ebay. don't worry about one that looks new, because they won't stay that way for long.

depending on the fuel you want to buy, the mid 90's hondas did better on low end with more compression. turning .018" or so of an inch off the bottom of the cylinder will greatly add to the low end. some think it robs the high end and prefer to turn just about the same off the top of the cylinder or head. I like the base. either way you may have to run race fuel or what we do some of the time (Klotz HiTrate). Using Hitrate is handier sometimes but really doesnt save you any money. I havent found ANY so called octane boosters that i would give you a buck a gallon for.

Erric Gorr porting for more low end . Cost about the same or less than a pipe.He machines some off the base of the cylinder some out of the head and changes some of the port angles.

Bought my skid plate off of Ebay for under $40 I think. I also put aluminum hand guards on mine, which have saved my hands numerous times this year already.

Eric Gorr closed his shop, at least for the summer.

It remains to be seen if he'll reopen it, and if so, what his prices will be like if he does reopen.
